LPA still likely to develop into storm Henry; rainfall warning up over six areas — PAGASA

Heavy rainfall warning is in effect over six areas due to a low pressure area (LPA), which remains likely to develop into a tropical cyclone, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday.

The LPA was last located over the coastal waters of Romblon, Romblon, PAGASA said in its 10 a.m. Tropical Cyclone Formation Outlook.

It continues to have a “high chance” of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.

If it develops, it will be locally named Henry, the country’s eighth tropical cyclone this year.

Heavy rainfall warnings have been raised over six areas due to the effects of the LPA, PAGASA said in a separate 5 a.m. advisory.

These areas include Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Aklan, and Capiz.

PAGASA said that heavy rainfall of 50 to 100 millimeters (mm) is expected over these areas, which may trigger flooding and landslides in prone areas. — Edg Adrian A. Eva
