Dr. Norby Roque Salonga has been chosen as one of the honorees of the prestigious Icons of Change International Awards.
The Icons of Change celebrates visionary leaders and organizations advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Previous honorees include renowned journalists, global leaders, and advocates of the SDGs across continents.
Dr. Salonga is recognized for his leadership and contribution to social enterprise education and economic development at the national and regional levels. He will be formally awarded on Dec. 5.
At present, Dr. Salonga serves as Founding Director of the award-winning Lasallian Social Enterprise for Economic Development Center and an Associate Professor of the Ramon V. Del Rosario College of Business of De La Salle University. He teaches social entrepreneurship and sustainable business. He is the president of the National Association of Social Enterprise Educators and Administrators and concurrently serves as Academe Chairperson of the National Governance Council on the Social Enterprise Roadmap.
Dr. Salonga is also a recipient of several awards including ACEEU Global Triple E Awards for Entrepreneurship Course of the Year in Czech Republic, Innovative Curriculum Award: Adopting i5PRME Principles in ASEAN for PRME Responsible Management Education by PRME, an initiative of United Nations Global Compact, Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Leader of the Year (3rd runner up) in Malaysia, Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Educator of the Year of ACEEU in Barcelona Spain, and Asia Pacific Engagement Leader of the Year (Top 5) of ACEEU in Kochi India, among others.
