Thunderstorms are expected in Visayas, Mindanao and Palawan due to the effects of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday.
“The effects of the ITCZ continue to bring rains over Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan,” Veronica C. Torres, PAGASA weather specialist, said in a 5:00 a.m. press briefing in Filipino.
PAGASA said thunderstorms are expected in these areas.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are specifically likely in Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga.
PAGASA warned of the likelihood of flooding and landslides during heavy rains and severe thunderstorms across all the affected areas.
Generally fair weather is expected in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, but localized thunderstorms could still occur, especially in the afternoon. The bureau also warned of possible flooding and landslides.
PAGASA has not monitored any weather disturbances as of the forecast period. — Edg Adrian A. Eva
