Heavy rainfall is expected in Occidental Mindoro due to the southwest monsoon, while Tropical Storm Nangka is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Wednesday.
In an 11:00 a.m. weather advisory, PAGASA hoisted a heavy rainfall warning in Occidental Mindoro, where heavy rainfall between 50 and 100 millimeters is expected until Tuesday noon.
Localized flooding is likely, especially in urbanized, low-lying, and near river areas, PAGASA said.
The rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, will be drenched by thunderstorms until Thursday early morning, also due to the southwest monsoon, PAGASA said in an early advisory.
The Visayas and Mindanao will be affected by localized thunderstorms until Thursday early morning.
Meanwhile, PAGASA is also monitoring tropical storm Nangka, which was last located 2,080 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon, as of 8:00 a.m.
It has a maximum sustained wind speed of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and 80 kph of gustiness.
In an earlier advisory, PAGASA said that the tropical storm is moving away from the country and will not pose any direct effect. — Edg Adrian A. Eva
